Job Description

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail, a British-curriculum through-school (ages 3–18) in Dubai, is seeking a Director of Inclusion to lead inclusive provision across the whole school from January 2027. The role provides strategic leadership for Students of Determination, ensuring provision meets the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework and KHDA expectations. Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, families and external agencies, the Director of Inclusion will embed a culture of inclusion throughout school life and lead high-quality, evidence-informed support. The academy holds a 'Very Good' DSIB rating, an Outstanding BSO rating and 'World Class School' status from High Performance Learning.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for inclusive education across the through-school (ages 3–18). Lead and develop provision for Students of Determination in line with the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework and KHDA requirements. Manage multidisciplinary inclusion teams spanning SEN, EAL and specialist support. Develop and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs), intervention programmes and support strategies. Coach teachers and lead professional development to strengthen inclusive classroom practice. Use data to evaluate provision and improve outcomes for all learners. Build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies.

Requirements

Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) with a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs, Inclusion or a related discipline (Master's preferred). Significant experience leading inclusion in a high-performing international school. Strong understanding of the British curriculum and inclusive practice across a 3–18 setting. Proven track record developing provision for Students of Determination. Sound knowledge of the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework and KHDA expectations. Experience leading multidisciplinary inclusion teams and developing IEPs and evidence-informed interventions. Strong coaching, communication and data-analysis skills. A UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check is required, in line with GEMS safeguarding policy.

Qualification

PGCE/PGDE or equivalent plus a Bachelor's in Education; postgraduate qualification in SEN/Inclusion (Master's preferred).
