Job Description
Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. (SEHA) is seeking a qualified Consultant in Pediatric Vascular Surgery for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC). The successful candidate will lead and supervise the provision of high-standard, evidence-based care within the pediatric vascular surgery specialty. Key obligations include patient assessment, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, and surgical management. Additionally, the role involves guiding junior medical personnel, participating in multidisciplinary clinical collaborations, providing rotational on-call coverage, and ensuring strict adherence to Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and hospital quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee evidence-based patient management and clinical care within pediatric vascular surgery.
- Perform clinical examinations, review medical histories, interpret diagnostic tests, and establish tailored treatment plans.
- Supervise and educate junior medical practitioners, specialists, and medical residents.
- Lead patient ward rounds and oversee both inpatient and outpatient services.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and medical specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide rotational out-of-hours, evening, night, weekend, and public holiday on-call coverage.
- Maintain prompt, thorough, and accurate medical documentation in alignment with DOH and hospital policies.
- Engage actively in quality assurance, clinical audits, peer reviews, and patient safety initiatives.
- Communicate treatment options clearly and empathetically with patients and families, ensuring required informed consents are obtained.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of a structured specialty training programme.
- Recognised specialty qualifications such as North American or European Board Certification, Fellowship of a Royal College, or equivalent qualification from a DOH Tier 1 or Tier 2 approved jurisdiction.
- Postgraduate degree (e.g., MD, MS, or DNB) as applicable.
- Minimum of 3 to 7 years of post-specialty clinical experience, determined by qualification and tier status.
- Experience in a recognised multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Valid DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) Consultant licence or verified eligibility.
- Completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) via the Data Flow Group.
- Passing score on DOH licensing exam unless qualifying for Tier 1 exemption.
- Current Certificate of Good Standing from relevant licensing authorities.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is required; additional language skills are beneficial.
- Gaps in practice exceeding two years require approved return-to-practice verification.
