Assistant Principal – Teaching & Learning & Curriculum

The Assistant Principal – Teaching & Learning & Curriculum will lead strategic teaching, learning and curriculum across the entire school, ensuring high‑quality classroom practice and a coherent, ambitious English National Curriculum from Pre‑KG to Grade 12. The role aligns teaching and curriculum with Ministry of Education standards and GEMS expectations, drives evidence‑based pedagogy, and supports strong student progress, particularly in a multilingual environment.

• Provide strategic leadership of teaching and learning across all phases, securing high expectations and strong classroom practice. • Embed an evidence‑informed pedagogical approach aligned with MoE standards, GEMS expectations and GEMS playbooks. • Lead professional learning, coaching and practice development to continuously improve teacher impact. • Promote a culture of shared, modelled, and sustained high‑quality teaching. • Strategically develop and assure quality of an ambitious, coherent English National Curriculum from Pre‑KG to Grade 12. • Ensure curriculum design, sequencing and planning build knowledge, skills and progression across phases. • Work with Heads of School and curriculum leaders to prepare students for IGCSE, AS and A Level pathways. • Ensure curriculum documentation meets MoE requirements and GEMS standards. • Respond to multilingual learners’ needs and embed literacy across subjects. • Design and lead a rigorous teaching, learning and curriculum quality‑assurance cycle aligned with MoE inspection standards and GEMS expectations. • Use lesson visits, work scrutiny, curriculum reviews, student voice and performance data to evaluate impact. • Identify strengths, development areas and risks, and drive focused improvement actions. • Design and deliver professional learning linked to school improvement priorities. • Coach middle and senior leaders to strengthen curriculum leadership and instructional accountability. • Support performance development processes and ensure alignment with professional goals. • Contribute to whole‑school policy‑making, strategic planning and improvement as a Senior Leadership Team member. • Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents to promote understanding of the school’s curriculum and teaching approach.

• Minimum 5 years teaching experience in reputed schools. • Proven experience leading teaching, learning and/or curriculum improvement with demonstrable impact. • Experience in curriculum leadership and quality assurance across a school or phase. • Experience working in a multilingual school and supporting learners for whom English is an additional language. • Experience with UAE, MoE, BSO, BSME or similar regulatory/inspection contexts is desirable. • Strong knowledge of effective teaching, learning and curriculum design informed by educational research. • Strong understanding of MoE teaching and learning standards and school inspection expectations. • Strong understanding of the English National Curriculum from Early Years/Pre‑KG to Grade 12. • Strong understanding of a rich literacy curriculum, including reading, writing, vocabulary, oracy and disciplinary literacy. • Ability to lead professional learning, coaching and development of teachers and leaders. • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative evidence to evaluate impact and drive improvement. • Clear communication skills, strong ICT skills, excellent time management and good interpersonal skills.

College Degree and recognised Teacher Training qualification; Masters, NPQ or equivalent leadership qualification desirable.
